Radha kund In Hindi : हिन्दू कैलेंडर के अनुसार राधा अष्टमी तथा अहोई अष्टमी का पर्व इस बार 24 अक्टूबर, दिन बृहस्पतिवार को मनाया जा रहा है। इस दिन यानि कार्तिक मास की श्री राधा अष्टमी पर वृंदावन के राधा कुंड में स्नान करने की परंपरा है। राधाष्टमी के दिन अहोई अष्टमी भी रहती है। आइए जानते हैं यहां राधा कुंड में क्यों करते हैं स्नान, क्या है इसका महत्व :

राधा कुंड की पौराणिक मान्यता क्या है : पौराणिक मान्यता के अनुसार श्रीकृष्ण गोवर्धन में गौचारण करते थे। इसी दौरान अरिष्टासुर ने गाय के बछड़े का रूप धरके श्रीकृष्ण पर हमला करना चाहा लेकिन श्रीकृष्ण ने उसका वध कर दिया। राधा कुंड क्षेत्र श्रीकृष्ण से पूर्व राक्षस अरिष्टासुर की नगरी अरीध वन थी। अरिष्टासुर से ब्रजवासी खासे तंग आ चुके थे। इस कारण श्रीकृष्ण ने उसका वध कर दिया था।

वध करने के बाद राधाजी ने बताया कि आपने गौवंश के रूप में उसका वध किया है अत: आपको गौवंश हत्या का पाप लगेगा। यह सुनकर श्रीकृष्‍ण ने अपनी बांसुरी से एक कुंड खोदा और उसमें स्नान किया। इस पर राधाजी ने भी बगल में अपने कंगन से एक दूसरा कुंड खोदा और उसमें स्नान किया। श्रीकृष्ण के खोदे गए कुंड को श्‍याम कुंड और राधाजी के कुंड को राधा कुंड कहते हैं।

श्री कृष्ण ने दिया था राधा कुंड में स्नान का वरदान : ब्रह्म पुराण व गर्ग संहिता के गिर्राज खंड के अनुसार महारास के बाद श्रीकृष्ण ने राधाजी की इच्‍छानुसार उन्हें वरदान दिया था कि जो भी दंपत्ति राधा कुंड में इस विशेष दिन स्नान करेगा उसे पुत्र रत्न की प्राप्ति होगी। श्रीकृष्‍ण और राधा ने स्नान करने के बाद महारास रचाया था। ऐसा माना जाता है कि आज भी कार्तिक मास के पुष्य नक्षत्र में भगवान श्रीकृष्ण 12 बारह बजे तक राधाजी के साथ राधाकुंड में अष्ट सखियों संग महारास करते हैं।

राधा कुंड में स्नान करने का महत्व और विधि : मथुरा नगरी से लगभग 26 किलोमीटर दूर गोवर्धन परिक्रमा में राधा कुंड नामक एक स्थान आता है जो कि परिक्रमा का प्रमुख पड़ाव है। यह वृंदावन में आता है। कार्तिक राधा कुंड में स्नान करने हेतु यहां देश से ही नहीं अपितु विदेशों से भी श्रद्धालु आते हैं।

कार्तिक मास की अष्टमी जिसे अहोई अष्टमी भी कहते हैं, इस दिन राधा कुंड में हजारों दंपत्ति स्नान करके पुत्र रत्न प्राप्ति की कामना करते हैं। इस संबंध में मान्यता है कि सप्तमी की रात्रि को यदि पुष्य नक्षत्र हो तो रात्रि 12 बजे राधा कुंड में स्नान करते हैं। इसके बाद सुहागिनें अपने केश खोलकर राधा की भक्ति करके उनसे आशीर्वाद प्राप्त कर पुत्र रत्न प्राप्ति की प्रार्थना करती हैं। और स्नान के बाद राधा कुंड पर कच्चा कद्दू चढ़ाते हैं, जिसे कुष्मांडा प्रसाद के नाम से जाना जाता हैं। कार्तिक मास की अष्टमी को वे पति-पत्नी जिन्हें पुत्र प्राप्ति नहीं हुई है, वे निर्जला व्रत रखते हैं।
