2024 International Youth Day : प्रतिवर्ष दुनियाभर में 12 अगस्त को अंतरराष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस मनाया जाता है। इसका उद्देश्य युवाओं में आत्मबल बढ़ाकर उनके कार्यों, आविष्कारों को विश्वभर में पहुंचाना है। साथ ही युवाओं का कौशल बढ़ाने के साथ-साथ उन्हें सशक्त बनाने के महत्व पर प्रकाश डालता है और युवाओं से जुड़े विभिन्न मुद्दों की ओर दुनिया भर का ध्यान आकर्षित करके उन्हें डिजिटल रास्ते से सतत विकास के रास्ते पर प्रेरित करना है। 
 
इतिहास : आपको बता दें कि संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा 17 दिसंबर 1999 को युवा विश्व सम्मलेन के दौरान की गई सिफारिशों को मानते हुए 54/120 प्रस्ताव पारित किया गया। और प्रत्येक वर्ष 12 अगस्त को अंतरराष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस के रूप में मनाने की घोषणा की गई थी। यह फैसला युवाओं के लिए जिम्मेदार मंत्रियों के विश्व सम्मेलन द्वारा 1998 में दिए गए सुझाव के बाद लिया गया था और संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ ने 1985 में अंतरराष्ट्रीय युवा वर्ष घोषित किया गया था। 
 
पहली बार कब मनाया गया : अंतरराष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस आयोजन का आरंभ पहली बार सन् 2000 में किया गया था। इस दिन को मनाने का उद्देश्य यह है कि सरकार युवाओं के मुद्दों, उनकी समस्याओं और उनकी बातों पर ध्यान आकर्षित करे। युवाओं की आवाज, उनके कार्यों तथा युवाओं के द्वारा किए गए आविष्कार को दुनिया तक पहुंचाने के लिए प्रत्येक वर्ष 12 अगस्त के दिन यह दिवस मनाया जाता है। 
 
इस दिन का मुख्य उद्देश्य युवाओं की समस्या को अंतरराष्ट्रीय संगठन जैसे संयुक्त राष्ट्र, मानवाधिकार तक पहुंचाना और उनका निवारण करना है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस मनाने का उद्देश्य वर्तमान समय जहां अनेक परिवर्तन, उपलब्धियां, सुविधाएं लेकर आ रहा है, वहीं युवा वर्ग के लिए तीव्र गति से भागने की क्षमता की चुनौतियां भी आ रही है, जिस कारण युवा वर्ग अधिक क्षमतावान होकर तेजी से हो रहे परिवर्तन को समझ सके और नई तकनीकों की जानकारी प्राप्त कर अपने कार्यशैली को परिवर्तित कर सके।

अंतरराष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस के दिन सामाजिक कार्य, राजनीतिक और आविष्कार करने वाले युवाओं को ऑनलाइन कार्यक्रम आयोजित करके सम्मानित किया जाता रहा है। और वर्तमान समय में इसमें बदलाव भी संभव हुए हैं।

इस बार 2024 में अंतरराष्ट्रीय युवा दिवस की थीम 'क्लिक्स से प्रगति तक : सतत विकास के लिए युवा डिजिटल रास्ते' (From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development) तय की गई है।
